Matthews is a well-known suburban town located in southeastern Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Matthews was included in the lists of the Best Cities for Business and Best Work Force.

The population of Matthews is steadily growing and business is flourishing. Matthews is home to over 30,000 residents. The city limits encompass 17 square miles to keep in pace with development in the area.
Matthews homes for sale are located at the southeastern border of Charlotte. The houses for sale in Matthews are situated in two North Carolina counties, Union County and Mecklenburg County. This creates confusion with the school set up, tax locations, city/water/sewer services and trash pick up. You may buy a home in Sardis Forest on the Charlotte side of the street and your neighbor across the way is on the Matthews side of the street (lower taxes).
If you purchase your Matthews homes for sale in Brookhaven, your mailing address is Matthews; your tax location is Weddington; your schools are in Union County! Word to the wise, Matthews NC real estate purchases can be a little tricky, so make sure you have good representation.
Like other areas of the Carolina's, Matthews offers a good many golf course homes for sale in Country Club communities - two of note, are The Divide at Shannamara and Emerald Lake Country Club.
Matthews offers a lot of things to do and see within the town and the Charlotte metropolitan area. The town features an assortment of shops, restaurants, cultural activities, and a vibrant historical downtown district.
The Matthews Athletic and Recreation Association offers programs in baseball, softball, football, basketball, and cheer-leading.
Known for its many festivals throughout the year, which include Matthews Alive, Golf Classic, ArtFest and BeachFest. The Community Center is available to residents and showcases children's performances put on by Matthews Playhouse.
Another popular attraction is the Matthews Community Farmers' Market. One popular attraction within the town is the Matthews Community Farmers’ Market.
Matthews is served by two public school districts; one is for Charlotte-Mecklenburg County and one is for Union County.
