Indian Land is a small town located in the northern most part of Lancaster County, South Carolina. Locally, it is considered to be a suburb of Charlotte.
It offers peaceful country living, affordable homes and taxes, and is located just a short drive from all the attractions and amenities of nearby Charlotte and Fort Mill.
Indian Land is home to Sun City at Carolina Lakes which is the largest Active Adult golf course community in the Charlotte region.
This alone has spurred on the growth of the overall Indian Land area. Many seniors moving to the Carolina's do so for the weather, for the golf, for the lower taxes, but also for their children who relocated to the area for business purposes...actually, for the grandchildren.
The Firethorne Country Club is another major development in the town of Indian Land. It is located in both Indian Land SC, and Marvin NC. So, if your goal is to live on the South Carolina side, pay close attention to the address.
Firethorne is a luxury country club with a fairly tough golf course and very active tennis league. It is located three miles south of Ballantyne and is part of the club group. With it's reasonable membership rates, you can have a great game of golf at multiple courses and enjoy it's beautiful full service lodge, swimming pools and tennis complex.
With Indian Land being within 15 minutes of the Ballantyne area , and only 45 minutes away from uptown Charlotte, the area is a natural draw for those with an eye on retirement and many of the communities seem to cater to the active adult lifestyle.
Indian Land is also an excellent choice for people who want to work in the Ballantyne area, South Charlotte or Fort Mill while coming home to the serene atmosphere of the countryside.
Indian Land's new home construction and retail centers continue to get developed as the area takes on it's own building boom. The area has a large bit of land still undeveloped and ripe for developers.
The developments and builders are much the same as those that developed the communities and shopping venues throughout south Charlotte and Fort Mill.
Indian Land has commercial areas in the town, including fast food and local restaurants, convenience stores, grocery, and even a Super Walmart. This small country town has more of a rural sprawl than a downtown area.
Nature and outdoor lovers will surely appreciate the Andrew Jackson State Park. This scenic park offers hiking, canoeing, camping, fishing and picnicking. There are plenty of recreational attractions in the park including a campground, fishing lake, picnic shelters and nature trails.
Also nearby is the Landsford Canal State Park, a former canal on the banks of the Catawba River. The park is the perfect site for hiking and mountains biking since there are many trails to explore.
The Indian Land High School is honored for academic excellence. The University of South Carolina at Lancaster brings the energy and talent of college students to the area.
Although Indian Land is a small country town, it is actually the home to the headquarters of several major businesses, including Continental Tire North America, Red Ventures, Sharonview Federal Credit Union, The Inspiration Networks, and Movement Mortgage.
Also located here are large branches of Honeywell, URS Corporation, TriNet, and Keer America Corporation. Indian Land is now well-known for different reasons and many people want to live here. Forbes magazine just named Indian Land as a top "Boom town" in the nation. Thousands of new residents in Indian Land seek lower housing prices, lower taxes and excellent school system.
