Cornelius upscale diningCornelius is a lakeside town situated along the eastern part of Lake Norman in northern Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.

Cornelius is approximately 15 square miles with over 30, 000 residents that contribute to its diverse economy and educated population. 

The recent job growth in Cornelius is positive. In fact, the employment opportunities in this town have increased by 3.49 percent. (The largest metropolitan area near Cornelius, is Charlotte, North Carolina, which is a 30 minute car ride. For those that travel, the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport is a 40 minute drive.)

Cornelius is a laid-back and captivating town that has a lot to offer. In the pedestrian-friendly downtown, you will discover a lot of shopping destinations from locally owned gift shops, antique shops and consignment stores.

While shopping, you can take a break in their delectable dessert shops for a sweet treat.  This highly diverse community has ten public parks, a wide variety of housing opportunities, vibrant retail shops and office centers.

Lake Norman is our largest area lake and borders five counties, so it does get busy with boat traffic. All sorts of boats, toys, pontoons, yachts and jet skis are allowed, but you will have to abide by these Lake Norman Boating Regulations.

There are lake restrictions, setbacks and buffer zones. The water level on Lake Norman ideally should be at 760ft. That is considered “full pond”. For modifying, dredging or construction of docks/piers, you will need to follow a very stringent process, you can find out the Lake Norman dock and pier building restrictions here.

 The Peninsula Country Club & The Peninsula Yacht Club

Lake Norman is the perfect place for water lovers; it has a pleasant four season climate that is great for year-round adventures. Located along the shores of Lake Norman, the Peninsula Yacht Club is the premier destination for lakefront dining, entertainment, and recreation.

At The Peninsula Yacht Club, members can experience a wide variety of organized boating and year-round social events while overlooking Lake Norman. Children will enjoy year-round activities such as summer camps, movie nights, sailing lessons, paddle boating, kayaking and canoeing.

The Peninsula Yacht Club is a separate club – separate from The Peninsula Country Club, but nestled inside The Peninsula boundaries. The Yacht Club runs about $2000 per year for membership and includes a pool area as well as dining, social events, full marina. It's location is at: 18501 Harbor Light Blvd. Cornelius         

Golf at The Peninsula at Lake NormanThe Peninsula Yacht Club should not be confused with The Peninsula Country Club - which is a gorgeous golf course community featuring many luxury waterfront homes on Lake Norman. The Peninsula Country Club members can enjoy superb dining, a stunning golf course, tennis, fitness and year-round activities for the entire family. You do not have to have a membership with the Peninsula Country Club, to live in the neighborhood. For those interested in living here, The Peninsula News may be a good publication for you to learn of upcoming events in the neighborhood.

It can be a bit tricky to distinguish which houses are truly in The Peninsula Country Club, and which are not.
